Starting month 26…

Last month marked the second anniversary for the SELCO Librarian. While SELCO was not early to the blogging craze, once adopted, we have written creatively on a wide range of topics. The blog has stayed true to the initial purpose announced in the March 7, 2006 posting “Inspired to Blog by Internet Librarian.”
With over 120 member libraries and over 600 staff members scatted around the region in 200 building locations, the new SELCO blog will have a twofold purpose:
- To share professional information of interest but which is not critical to the daily operation of SELCO/SELS or the members of the multitype consortium; and
- To provide an insight into the personal interests, talents, and opinions of the SELCO staff as they pertain to librarianship.
This new blog will be a forum for SELCO librarians and staff to offer comments about libraries in today’s world, whether it is a summary of a conference, reactions to another blog posting, or thoughts on customer service. The key is that each entry will start with, focus on and come to rest on the topic of libraries, library service, library technology, or librarianship because it is what we do.
Just a few statistics
25 months
374 posts

The busiest month is the one just completed, March 2008, with a variety of contributions from SELCO staff and SELCO – PLA Scholarship Recipients. The quietest month was February 2007. I am not sure whether it was just a very busy time or if there were simply fewer topics that sparked interest. Board members and library staff share compliments about the timely and diverse topics. It has been both fun and challenging work that we’ll continue.
