January 5, 2009 -- Feeling the need for an  interlibrary loan (ILL) refresher? Join other library staff at SELCO on Tuesday, January 13, 12:30-3:00 pm for An Afternoon of ILL: In Region Items and Requests.  Library staff may participate through an online meeting connection or in-person.  Pre-registation is recommended for those attending onsite as a light lunch will be provided.

October 08, 2008 -- Video of the October SELCO Advisory Committee meeting held yesterday has been posted to the committee meeting materials page.  To make the video more managable, it has been divided into three parts.

• Part One, covering roughly the first 1/3 of the meeting, starting at agenda item #1 and ending with item #4
• Part Two, covering roughly the second 1/3 of the meeting, starting at agenda item #5 and ending with item #6
• Part Three, covering roughly the last 1/3 of the meeting, starting at agenda item #7 and ending with item #11

January 13, 2009 -- The Technology Users Group Meeting that is scheduled for today is still on.  If you were planning to attend please arrive at the appropriate time.  If you have any questions or concerns on this matter please let us know, thank you.

January 16, 2009 -- In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the SELCO office will be closed on Monday, January 19th.  Automation Support will be available that day from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm via the Help Desk number.  If you have an automation problem, please dial (1-866) 529-4469 or (507) 529-4469 to contact our on-call staff.  Normal Monday delivery will be conducted on Tuesday.

01-20-2009 -- We have restored the missing navigational bars to the SELCO/SELS website.  Presently, we are still restoring information to the Events Calendar but all other content has been restored.  Please accept our apology for this difficulty with our public face.

01-20-2009 -- We are experiencing a problem with the SELCO website which has caused us to lose the navigational bars at the top and left side of the page.  Efforts throughout the weekend to resolve this problem were unsuccessful and we are continuing to work.  In the meantime, the following links will take you to the main sections of the page.  Until we get the problem resolved, please use the Seach box on the right side to find pages.  We regret the inconvenience this is causing and will put things to rights as soon as possible.

January 21, 2009- Minnesota's seven multicounty, multitype library systems (multitypes) launched the More Things On a Stick: A Library Learning 2.0 Program on January 20, 2009. This program is a followup to the very popular 23 Things on a Stick program. Information about the program can be found by going to the More Things on a Stick website. January 26, 2009 -- SELCOtv is a new, ongoing series of online streaming video programs on all things SELCO/SELS:

• Meetings, including Advisory Committees, ILS Operations/Technology Policy Committee, and Technology Users Group
• Training clips illustrating use and functions of Horizon and other software
• Informational programs on SELCO services and Online Libraries
• General topics of interest to the library community
• Whatever else we can think of
• Your suggestions

In order to keep these programs useful, we are attempting to keep them short whenever possible.  Informational programs will generally run 15 minutes or less.  Meeting videos will be longer, of course, but we'll break them up into shorter segments to make it easier on the viewer.  All episodes will be Flash files.

January 29, 2009 -- Please save the date!  SELCO is pleased to announce that Warren Graham, library safety expert and author of Black Belt Librarians, will be visiting SE Minnesota in March!  He will be presenting his nationally renowned program on day-to-day library security procedures at the Paradise Center for the Arts - Bahl Family Auditoriumin Faribault on Monday, March 9th, 11:30-4:30 p.m.  Graham, who has worked as Security and Safety Manager for the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, travels across the United States helping libraries of all sizes.  He will be presenting "real world" approaches and strategies to help libraries of any size acquire a sense of real control in their work environment.  Car-pooling from the SELCO office will be available and lunch will be provided.  To register for this program, please visit the SELCO training page here:  http://www.solutionwhere.com/selco/cw/showcourse.asp?68.  Hope to see you there!
