SELCO and the Minnesota Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment
In November 2008, Minnesota voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment to dedicate funds for Minnesota's Outdoor Heritage, Clean Water, Parks and Trails, and our State’s Arts and Cultural Heritage. Included in the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund is a sizeable portion for libraries. The law states that these funds are intended “for regional programs and working with arts and cultural heritage partners.”
As an initial approach to the Library portion of the Arts and Cultural Heritage funds, SELCO held discussions with area library directors, library staff and library board members. Based on their input, SELCO has designated a number of broad categories that it will concentrate on in this first year of Legacy funding. Individual pages about these projects can be found to the right of the screen. |
