Library Support Services – Delivery & ILL Assistant

SELCO seeks well-organized individual with good keyboarding skills for full-time, 40 hours per week position.  Individual must have ability to fulfill primary job responsibilities and job requirements including:

Share responsibility for effectively staffing the SELCO delivery service as member of delivery team
  • Accurately sort materials for timely delivery to school and library stops
  • Possess knowledge of delivery routes, schedule and codes
  • Communicate effectively with library staff members, SELCO staff and delivery drivers* Assist with general arrangement of delivery work space and make necessary modifications to accommodate changes in delivery route(s), additional sites and/or changes in volume* Update and maintain details about routes and schedules
  • Maintain delivery supplies (labels, tubs, etc.), re-ordering when necessary
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, e.g. delivery tubs, book bags and boxes of books
    Participate as member of SELCO interlibrary loan team to provide MnLINK interlibrary loan service to member libraries
  • Process and sort incoming library materials, prepare outgoing delivery materials
  • Perform daily tasks in MnLINK VDX, including the processing of requests and materials
  • Facilitate communication among SELCO, SELCO and SELS members, MnLINK, and MnLINK Gateway sites concerning interlibrary loan activities
    Participate as an active member of SELCO phone team
  • Answer multiple line telephone promptly and with consideration and courtesy
  • Answer questions, take complete messages and/or forward calls using voice mail system * Consideration will be given to internal and external candidates simultaneously

Information Services – Web Development Technician

SELCO seeks well organized individual for full-time (40 hours) per week technical position. Individual must have ability to fulfill primary job responsibilities and job requirements including:
  • Develop and maintain software with an emphasis on web-based applications·       Provide technical support to Online Libraries and SELCO staff
  • Maintain SELCO web sites as a member of the Web Team using a variety of tools including Content Management Systems, web development applications, and web scripting languages
  • Support SELCO staff creating content including video content
  • Maintain Online Library websites
  • Maintain web servers including IIS and Apache
  • Investigate and implement appropriate web-based solutions
  • Serve as point of contact with vendors for outsourced web solutions
  • Provide instruction, documentation, technical information on web resources
  • Participate in continued development of the web-based online catalog
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with Online Libraries on a variety of topics
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of computer technology, including (but not limited to):o  IIS and Apache web servers
    o  HTML, CSS, and XML
    o  Javascript and other web-based scripting languages
    o  Blog platforms, including WordPress and Blogger
    o  Content Management Systems, including Confluence and Jira
    o  SQL
    o  Servers, PCs, Windows
  • Familiarity with Web 2.0 concepts, preference given to experience with library software or websites
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and shift focus between multiple projects

Statewide Library Legacy Partnership Opportunity!

Minnesota's Regional Public Library Directors are seeking an energetic and talented individual to coordinate and provide leadership for the Regional Public Library – Minnesota Historical Society Legacy Partnership.

This position will insure libraries can successfully implement programs and services based on the Minnesota's Greatest Generation Program  http://www.mnhs.org/people/mngg/index.htmfrom MHS.

This position will represent regional public libraries within the Minnesota Historical Society and will insure a positive partnership with MHS for future shared programs.

This position could be hired as a mobility assignment with the proper approvals from the applicant's current employer.  Salary and benefits are negotiable based on experience and talent. A task list for the position is attached.
