The Research page on the SELCO website is a valuable tool for patrons in the region to perform database inquiries. From it they may access the portals to databases provided by SELCO or the State of Minnesota. Additional catalogs such as MnLINK's combined collection of Minnesota's public libraries and the OverDrive eBooks can be found on the SELCO Catalog Page.
For resources provided by the State of the Minnesota (currently known as ELM, the Electronic Library of Minnesota), the page will feature a general portal to ELM’s main page. While SELCO participates in the database use of the ELM databases, it will be ELM’s responsibility to maintain their own links to databases on their own website, SELCO will merely redirect to the ELM resources.
SELCO will present portals to databases leased on behalf of the region. SELCO will also represent on the Research page those databases hosted and maintained by SELCO.
In order to maintain the quality of the page and to avoid scope creep, the Research page is not designed to promote databases provided by individual SELCO/SELS members. It will only display those resources SELCO has a vested interest in; either financially or contractually. However, SELCO will provide notice on the Research page that additional resources may be available from a patron’s local library.
