The 2009 summer reading theme is "Be Creative @ Your Library" and features kids and animals playing musical instruments, making artwork, and other fun ways to be creative.

The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) is a grassroots consortium of states working together to provide high-quality summer reading program materials for children at the lowest cost possible for their public libraries.

By combining resources and working with a commercial vendor to produce materials designed exclusively for CSLP members, public libraries in participating states or systems can purchase posters, reading logs, bookmarks, certificates and a variety of reading incentives at significant savings.   (From the CSLP website)

This year's artist, David Catrow, is an award-winning illustrator of 30+ children's books, among them She's Wearing a Dead Bird on Her Head by Kathryn Lasky, I Wanna Iguana by Karen Orloff and Take Me Out of the Bathtub and Other Silly Dilly Songs by Alan Katz.  He is also an editorial cartoonist.

This year's teen theme is "Express Yourself @ your Library".  The illustrator, Brad Sneed, has illustrated multiple picture books for children, including his own book, Deputy Harvey and the Ant Cow Caper, which received a starred review.
