SELCO is happy to provide our members Techie Toyboxes containing new pieces of technology for training purposes. These kits will provide a hands-on learning experience for patrons of all ages. The Techie Toyboxes are meant to be self-directed and to provide a learning experience for the trainer, as well as the patrons participating in the library's training program. To find the Techie Toyboxes in the online catalog, perform a series search for "techie toybox."
REQUESTS:
Only library staff may request these kits, and they cannot order them directly through their Horizon account. All requests must come through SELCO and be handled by the Media Scheduling software. To book a Techie Toybox, please send a request to SELCO at booking@selco.info. The email must include the toybox title, the date needed and a requested due date. The toyboxes can be checked out for up to 2 weeks at a time, and you may check out more than one toybox. If you are planning to book one or more kits, please check for availability before scheduling your event.
FILLED REQUESTS:
The Techie Toyboxes have been assembled in special blue plastic containers. As requested, the boxes will be delivered via the SELCO delivery vans. Each blue box will have a hold slip with the patron's name and the due date for the toybox. When you receive the box, you do not need to check it in. Please check the item out to the appropriate staff member using the toybox for training--that way we can collect the required statistics on the usage. You will need to edit the due date to the date from the hold slip. When returning the toybox to SELCO, please check the contents list for completeness, check in the kit, and return via the delivery courier.

The Techie Toyboxes were purchased for the Techie Toyboxes at the Regional Public Library Systems grant from the IMLS, a federal agency that fosters innovation, leadership & a lifetime of learning, & State Library Services, the Minnesota State Library Agency, under the provisions of the Library Services & Technology Act. This grant was administered through the Arrowhead Library System.
