Workshop
A SELCO Continuing Education Event featuring Patrick Jones, a well-known expert on Young Adult Services and author of several professional books and teen reads. Maggie Snow and Ben Trapskin, SELCO Special Consultants with YA patron expertise, will be available to brainstorm creative plans with participants 1-2 weeks following the workshop.

Ben Trapskin
| Ben Trapskin is a Senior Librarian in the Hennepin County Library system. Areas of interest include teen services, web 2.0, gaming, security and space planning. He has served on various committees in MLA and ALA and was a graduate of the inagural ALA Emerging Leaders program in 2007. |
Maggie Snow
| | Maggie Snow has been working in libraries for over 18 years focusing on youth and outreach services for most of that time. She has worked in libraries in Washington, D.C., Missouri and in Minnesota as Community Services Librarian in Austin and Branch and Cluster Manager in Carver County. She has served as Chair of the Children's and Young People Section of the Minnesota Library Association and as Chair of the Public Library Division of the Missouri Library Association. Currently, Snow is a Program Specialist in the Partnerships Division for Hennepin County Library, working on system-wide programs including Summer Reading, Guys Read, and Homework Hub after-school tutoring. |
Jody Wurl
| | Jody Wurl is a Senior Librarian in Teen and Web Services for Hennepin County Library. Her current duties include maintaining the TeenLinks webpage and supporting teen programming initiatives in the library, including gaming. Also active in YALSA, she's a member of the Website Advisory Committee and a YALSA blogger. Learning new technologies and how to apply them in libraries, particularly social media such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, have become a large part of her focus. She loves Readers Advisory, including challenging genres/formats such as science fiction/fantasy/horror, graphic novels and audio books. |
Christy Mulligan
| Christy Mulligan is a certified trainer of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) with experience working with teens in rural, suburban and urban libraries since 2003. Interests include programming that connects teens with reading, technology and gaming, collections and readers advisory, and youth participation through teen advisory groups and volunteer and internship programs. Between 2003 and 2005, Christy developed and implemented a strategy for teen services in rural Wisconsin, securing and using grnat funds to develop teen collections, programs and a teen advisory group for 10 public libraries in Polk County. She served on YALSA's Best Books for Young Adults committee in 2008 and has taught courses in Young Adult Literature and Library Services for Teens at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2004. She works in Teen Central at the Hennepin County Library. |
YA Specialist
Patrick Jones is a former teen librarian and author of several professional books, including Connecting Young Adults and Libraries. He has given presentations in all 50 statues and is a recipient of the ALA Scholastic Library Publishing Award for his contribution to the field.
