New Duties
May 5, 2008 -- On May 1, SELCO staff
members Mollie Pherson and Tyler Irvin assumed new duties. Mollie is SELCO’s new Regional Librarian and Tyler Irvin begins work as the Project Librarian for
the joint undertaking with the Chatfield Brass Band Music Lending Library.
During her time at SELCO, Mollie has tackled many tasks as part-time Office Assistant --- delivery, counting Hot Reads materials, and answering phones with a smile. She has also been fine-tuning her library skills as the current Project Librarian, successfully managing three of four LSTA grant projects. Mollie’s primary tasks as Regional Librarian will be:

- Support for member libraries in the areas of continuing education, grant preparation and annual report submissions.
- Managing in-region ILL, MnLINK and developing SELCO’s special collections.
- Communications and advocacy including children’s summer reading program, Hot Reads for Cold Nights, the newsletter and blog, as well as participating in state advocacy efforts.
As Project Librarian, Tyler will manage the upcoming 15-month LSTA project for the Chatfield Brass Band Music Lending Library. In this role he will:
- Serve as the primary contact between SELCO and the Library and undertake project activities.
- Participate in training.
- Assist with project evaluation.
Tyler will also help catalog the collection since a large part of this project will be creating records that meet SELCO and national standards. He is currently working as an LSTA Project Cataloger for Community Academic Libraries as Online Partners.
