This is part of a series of meeting recaps for SELCO & SELS Board members, SELCO staff, and all library staff. We will post these following each meeting of the search committee. The bulk of the January 31 meeting was spent preparing for the first two rounds of interviews. The first round will be conducted via telephone by Library Strategies during the week of February 06. Sue Hall, Library Strategies, provided the committee with a verbal review of the applications. The committee then selected six candidates to undergo the phone interviews. The committee will meet on February 10 to receive Library Strategies’ report summarizing the interviews and select candidates for the next (second) round.
The second round of interviews will be conducted by the Search Committee and Library Strategies at the SELCO office on February 21-23. These interviews will be carried out face-to-face with three to five candidates selected from the phone interviews.
In their January 31 meeting, the committee reviewed questions for the February 21-23 interviews (questions for the phone interviews were reviewed at a previous meeting). Logistical details including travel arrangements for candidates, meeting room setup, and interview procedures were also worked out.
The committee received and voted to accept a recommendation from the SELCO Board of Directors Personnel committee concerning contract work to be carried out by Ann Hutton, outgoing SELCO Executive Director, during the transition and in the unlikely event that the search is not successful in hiring a new Executive Director. This recommendation was not created in response to any specific concerns or issues with the search but rather as contingency plans.
Finally, the committee finalized the members of the team that will carry out negotiations with the candidate selected for the Executive Director position. This team will consist of:
- Judy Schotzko, SELCO/SELS Board of Directors President and Search Committee chair
- Sally Baker, SELCO/SELS Board of Directors
- Jen Schroeder, SELCO Finance Manager
- Sue Hall, Library Strategies
