10-07-2008  MGF  I have done some testing with a couple of different antivirus solutions, such as FProt.  FProt was cheaper than Symantec, but there is no way to schedule specific update times, which is necessary on systems with security tools such as Windows Disk Protection.  We are continuing our search for another antivirus solution.

09-04-2008  MGF  SELCO is looking into some new possible antivirus solutions that may work for the libraries.  Even though Symantec has been great in the past, their new EndPoint Protection provides way more than Antivirus and really slows down the computers, as well as causing potential problems with Pharos and other security software.  The new software solution will have to be tested to work in the library environment and with other security products such as CleanSlate and Windows SteadyState.
