Smart Investing Web Site
TC 5/14/2008 Met with Rachel to discuss the project further. Discussed ideas, features, layout, and design for the site. Firmed up navigation sections, and Tom will be working on a homepage sample by June 2, based on wireframes discussed in the 5/14 meeting.
TC 4/3/2008 Met w/ Rachel to discuss this project. Notes: About 11 FINRA modules we can link to from topic pages, e.g. Bank module, CDs, etc. Also discussed resources pages Rachel developed. They include bibliography/references to further reading. This is a good place to link to the SELCO catalog. We might also be able to use the thumbnails of the images from ipac to include on the SI site w/ the links to the books, etc. on ipac. Del.icio.us: Rachel developed about 50+ links. I am looking into the possibility of embedding the links w/ in one of our Web pages. Video: discussed external hosting, and items from the video meeting held some weeks back. Site Design/Layout: discussed possibly doing something like how the Rural Sustainability site is setup. Also, in the Team Web meeting, it was mentioned that the look of the SI site can be quite different from the SELCO site, but it should have some elements that help associate it w/ SELCO, e.g. using the SELCO logo, etc. The main page of the SI site should link to FINRA & KSMQ. Check the KSMQ site too for Pet Connections video. It's a live show w/ a Q&A format. The SI audience will be gen X & Y, need elements that will grab their attention. We'll meet again maybe the afternoon of the 14th.
DRL 03-31-2008 Tom and Rachel are meeting on Thursday, 04-03-2008, to touch base on the modules that she is creating.
DRL 02-21-2008 Moved to the Active Development list. Rachel is working on setting up a meeting with the TV station to discuss technical issues regarding the post-TV program webcast:
- Where to conduct the webcast--The logistics of the programs are such that it would be easiest to conduct the webcast at the TV studio. Bandwidth concerns for the studio may preclude this option. The next best alternative would be to have it at Austin Public Library. Rachel has booked a meeting room there just in case.
- Cameras--After budgeting for the TV-related expenses, there was no room in the budget for webcasting cameras. We are hopeful that the TV studio can help us out.
Donovan is working on the details of how the webcast will work.
TC 01/28/2008 Added this project to the development queue.
