Annual Maintenance Visits for PC Support Customer Libraries
05-29-2008 DRL Planning next round of visits for second half of calendar year 2008. While not all sites were visited last year, most received substantial PC updates that make the maintenance moot. Draft schedule of visits to be prepared for next team meeting on 06-09.
01-10-2008 DRL Unexpected staff turnover in late 2007 prevented us from completing these visits. We will continue where we left off, completing the visits that were not done in 2007 and then visiting sites that were done. Donovan will assemble a draft schedule of visits although we will shift this schedule around to take advantage of opportunities to finish sites that are being visited for some other reason.
11-26-2007 MGF We have completed Dodge Center, Kenyon, and Harmony. We are continuing to schedule maintenance visits as time permits.
10-29-2007 DRL Once per year, we visit each PC Support customer library and perform the following maintenance on each supported PC:
- Blow dust out of system case.
- Verify Antivirus definitions are current & live update is functioning.
- Verify virus definitions are setup to update weekly.
- Delete .TMP files.
- Delete all cookies and temporary files from web browser.
- Scan drives for viruses and remove viruses if any are found.
- Scan system for spyware and remove if found.
- Apply current operating system service packs and critical updates.
- Update software:
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Adobe Flash
- Adobe Shockwave
- Clean Slate (if present)
- Java Runtime
- Public Web Browser - Update License Key (as needed)
- Defragment Drives.
- Create a new backup image.
