BiFolkal Kits
Bi-Folkal Kits on a variety of subjects are available from SELCO. Because the use of them is primarily for planned events, these kits are handled differently than other materials on the system. Requests for these items must be made by E-mail.
REQUESTS:
Although patrons such as activity directors at nursing homes and senior centers may use these kits, they cannot order them directly through their Horizon account. All requests must come through a local library and ultimately be handled by the Media Scheduling software at SELCO. The local library will check availability of an item for the date requested.
To Check Availability: You may bring up kits individually by title or you may bring up the entire list by using a subject or title keyword search for Bi-Folkal Kit. (Including the – is important!) Initially Horizon will display 30 titles and you will need to hit resume to bring up the entire list. This list can be sorted alphabetically. When you find the kit you wish to check, go to the tool bar, choose Request, View Title Booking List, and look at the dates for which the materials is already booked.
After availability for the requested date is verified the local library staff will send a requesting email to SELCO, booking@selco.info. The email must include the kit title, the patron name and card number, the date needed and the anticipated return date.
FILLED REQUESTS:
The kits are delivered via the courier system. Each kit has a hold slip with the patron’s name and the due date for the kit.
When you receive the box you do not need to check it in. It is ready to check out to the patron. Please do check the item out to your patron so that we can collect the statistics on the usage and so that we can keep track of our items. You will need to edit to put in the due date from the hold slip.
When the patron returns the kit, please check the contents list for completeness. Then check in the kit. Horizon will place it in transit back to the SELCO location. Please return via the delivery courier.
