Advocacy

Librarians and library advocates have a key role to play in educating our communities about why libraries and librarians are essential in an information society. To be effective, they must speak loudly, clearly and with a unified voice. Democracy needs libraries, and libraries need advocates.

Contact Your Legislators and County Government!

  • Minnesota Congressional and Legislative Districts - interactive maps and reports Minnesota Geographic Information Service
  • Legislative Mashup: Map links to each legislator representing SELCO and SELS libraries with photos and links to legislative pages listing contact e-mail, address, and phone number.
  • Tell us your story.  Tell us how the public library has helped you and/or your family.  These stories will be shared with the people who decide on library funding issues.
